I have struggled for years ( im in my 50's ) with feelings of not fitting in . Masking who i am in public , struggling with interactions and not understanding others or reading their emotions/intentions . I realize other people arent like me . Ive destroyed virtually all relationships i had and cant seem to make friends. im actually at the point now where i have to seek help as i feel completely lost and cant understand why im here or what im supposed to do . I hyperfocus on certain things to deal with the days . Im not sure if this is where im supposed to type all this but it is what it is . The plan for the immediate future is to seek the correct help to at least get diagnosed and try to cope a little better. Any words of wisdom/help would be much appreciated

Hey there @AdeT1973 and it's a warm welcome to the community from me too. 😊

As Teddybear has said, we're all here for support and friendship when you need it. But I agree it'd be worth speaking to your GP regarding your low moods. They may also be able to suggest other therapies to help? I'm just reading between the lines here, but are you seeking a diagnosis for autism or ADHD?

Thank you for the reply I'm just trying to figure out where to start with it all. I'm currently browsing the NHS mental health service online.i would say autism as both my son and daughter were diagnosed with Asperger's years ago and I have exactly the same traits .

Not a problem at all @AdeT1973 I'm late diagnosed autistic (nearly two years ago at the age of 44) so I understand how you're currently feeling. I've written a piece regarding Right to Choose which you may find useful?

First step will be speaking to your GP and asking for a questionnaire which you can do over the phone or in your own time, then the GP will decide if they want to put you forward for a referral. It can sometimes take a bit of pestering, but it's very much worth it. 😊
