Hi, my name is Durbano5144
Hi Everyone,
I have been reading through the posts relating to IIDB and would like to share my journey.
I became very ill in 2020 through Employer Negligence and every barrier I have came across since my first application for IIDB was denied and denied.
I knew I had overwhelming evidence and eventually had to appeal to Tribunal which was denied and the Legal Member gave me an experience many would be completely put off by.
I Appealed once again and raised a complaint about the Legal Member of the Panel to the Upper Tribunal and finally I had a 'Unanimous Award' some 4 years and 4 months later.
My Appeal was allowed back dated to April 2020 confirming it was indeed accepted as an Industrial Injury.
This was on 27th of June and I know that DWP recieved the papers on 5th of July, but after various phone calls to the IIDB Branch I was getting fobbed off again and again with excuses for getting my Home Medical.
I was told lies on the phone and I informed the Agent that I was going to Complain to the Communities Minister in Stormont via Email on 14th of August.
Then on 17th of August I received an Apology via Email from the Communities Minister.
Then on the 18th of August I recieved a telephone call from Medical Services asking if I would be able to have a Home Medical on 27th of August.
So, from being informed there was no Home Medicals on 14th of August, and there wouldn't be any made for more than a month, within 3 days of complaining I had a call to arrange my Home Medical.
Today 27th of August I had a Dr perform the Home Medical, which was extremely intrusive and exhausting and lasted for 2 hours and 10 minutes to establish the percentage extent of my Disability.
The IIDB system is needing a complete overhaul as no application should take so long nor should anyone be given lies.
My advice to anyone is to never ever give in until there is no possibility of winning and if anyone feels they are being failed , I would certainly encourage involvement of your local Politicians.

Heya @Durbano5144 and welcome to the community!
Thanks for sharing your story, I hope it'll be of help to others going through similar issues. I've found local MPs can really speed things up, but sorry it took so long.1
