Becoming Self Employed while on LCWRA
Hello!
I am currently claiming universal credit with LCWRA. I am looking to start a business selling trading cards online. From what I understand this is fine and I will need to tell the job center and I will be sent to a gateway interview.
My question is what evidence i need for my gateway interview. I have a business name and idea, but won't start until I get the all clear from Universal Credit as I don't want to impact my benefits.
It reads on the gov website that I need invoices receipts bank statements as evidence. However, I do not have any of these as I haven't started the business yet. I will after I know I am able too. Is this something that I need to take with me for the interview or does it not apply to me.
Thank you

Hi @LilyBlossom.
Your new business idea sounds great. Do you have any business plans written down? That might be something you can take to show them.
As you are in the LCWRA group, you won't have to earn over a certain amount to be seen as 'gainfully self employed', so it might be that the rules are slightly more relaxed for you.
Perhaps you could put a message on your UC journal to ask whether there's anything you might need to prepare for your interview?
