Fantastic news I was going to do the same but you have beaten me to it, however, it is brilliant that it actually works as I thought it would, do you mind letting me know how much it cost for the new set-up, combining what you have done with upgrading the wattage of a new motor from ZHOZHUT and i think we have the perfect scooter :), from what i can work out the higher wattage motor will give it better towing power torque

i got my batterys from eco-worthy they are a little bit bigger than a standard battery so you have to make your battery box a littile bit biger by taking one side of the box off to fit the battery i have not change the motor on mine its still the same motor what thay fitted

    Hi Razr.

Firstly I'd like to say thanks for your advice on this site about where the limiter switch was on my GP JH500 which has helped me out a lot so thank you for that.

The reason I'm messaging you is because you seem to know what you're talking about and I really want to get as much range as I possibly can. Also where I live there are a lot of steep hills (going up them in 3rd gear (15 mph) can even seriously slow the scooter down and im guessing will seriously drain the battery which I'd like to avoid because of the range issue.

As I mentioned before I have the GP JH500 with 800w motor and whatever standard batteries it came with. If I need to upgrade both then so be it.

I really hope you can help me with this and I hope to hear back from you soon.

    Thanks in advance

    Danny

my scooter was stolen a while back so i have not been able to do much, however, your motor can be upgraded quite easily and your batteries can too, Lifepo4 batteries and a 1800watt motor will solve your problems as afar as i can see, if you change your batteries to said above make sure you install a seperate charging system, direct smart charger will work fine, the lifepo4 batteries are a little larger so you may need to modify your battery tray but seriously it is quite easyalso with lithium batteries to handle your motor upgrade will cut the weight you are carrying so its a win all the way, My other scooter has 2 AGM batteries weighing in at 60lbs, i am converting it to lithium and they will weigh in at 26lb so you can see a benefit straight away, also AGM batteries are not built to last, my new batteries for the said scooter are just over a year old and are dying already at 75% which leaves me 25% to work with as they cut out at 50% to save damaging the batteries, i totaly recommend changing your batteries to lithium and upgrading your motor, if you read through the other post you should be able to find the info needed, dont be shy and plz let me know how you are going with it,

Mobility scooters are left in the past compared to what others have in their E car

    be safe and chat soon

the switches are **** on the JH500, keep it covered up from the elements, my switches went wonky as its always outside and would have cost 140 to sort out, i recomend covering the handle bars from the elements if nothing else when not in use

Hi Razr thank you for your quick response. I'm really sorry to hear about your scooter getting stolen. That's just the lowest of the low the absolute ********

I know this is asking a lot but would you kindly be able to send me links for the things I'd need to buy on Amazon or wherever youd get them from as I don't really know exactly what I'm looking for and it will be a friend of mine that will do the mechanical side for me. I park my scooter in a shed outside and just leave it charging overnight so would that be an issue with the new batteries i.e over charging them?

Also would it maybe be worth buying a spare battery to take out with me and change them over if I fancy going out for a good few hours doing 8 ( and occasionally 15mph) doing say a 20-30 miles run?

Sorry for all the questions I'm a newbie to scooter shenanigans. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Many Thanks

It will be my pleasure, you are intending to do what I was going to do until my scooter was stolen, i was saving up for it as i had done all the research to do the job, all the parts are readily available also i have heard of others that have done this and are very happy with the outcome, i am a little busy at the moment but i will message you again soon

    Hello Razr

If you have a list of parts needed for the conversion could you please either send to me as well or alternatively publish on here. Thanks for all your advice.

    Cheers

    Keith

    To convert JH500

    Motor from Amazon

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0D2XLSGG4/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_3?smid=AGI4IA3ME5N8H&th=1&psc=1

range from 48v to 72v, they all bolt on the with the same bolt holes and are alot cheaper than going to Green power

Providing yours is 60v like mine was then you will need

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/OPOBMBNGX-Lithium-Battery-LiFePO4-Charger

More amps means more range and torque, providing it will fit ( i would sacrifice the boot space personally)

you may need to modify your connections to the new power system

These batteries come with 10 yr guarantee or 3-4k cycles normally so yes it is more expensive but you shouldn't need to replace them in 1-3 yrs time as with AGM

I hope this helps, any questions then feel free to get back to me

    Just a reminder
AGM Batteries die very easily if not maintained, recharged every week, even when not in use, less maintenance with lithium plus Lithium batteries are 1/3 of the weight of lead acid

This is how i would go about it ^^^

i have an Invacare Orion mobility scooter and am converting this to lithium lifepo4 as we speak

its AGM batteries are under a yr old and are dying already at 75%

its AGM batteries weigh in at 60lb and the conversion is 26lb (winner straight away)

the lithium batteries are a little larger so i am modifying its battery tray to house them, i will post an update in due course

HI Razr thank you for replying. It won't let me click on the links for some reason so after a few fall outs with Google and Amazon I've managed to find these (probably wrong but hopefully not). If they are right (which I doubt) could you point out the right ones for me or if they are wrong point me in the right direction.

Also would It be the 60v motor I would need for the batteries to work on it?

Sorry for being a massive pain in the a##e and I look forward to your response.

    Many thanks

Update to Invacare Orion conversion, all done, no mod needed after all, unlike lead acid/AGM batteries, lithium does not have to stand upright, they can be in any orientation, quick spin and WOW OMG what a difference, the scooter now packs a punch, full range is yet to be tested though

Hi! Let me ask you why you decided to install lifepo4? They are expensive and only relevant for very low temperatures, when no one will ride a mobility scooter.

here is what you will need

    ZHOZHUT motor.png Lifepo4 30Ah.png Lifepo4 charger.png

You need five of the batteries above (20Ah but with a little modding of the battery tray 30Ah will fit without using boot space) plus if you are intending to sacrifice your boot then you can get larger with more amps in each battery (50Ah x5)(insane range)(they must be all the same and five of them to give 60v) and (they can be in any orientation unlike AGM)with this in mind you will get a much better mileage per charge (more amps=more miles) and with upgraded motor for hills (more Watts =more torque for hills or towing) its already fit for 4-8-15mph (european standard speed) if you know where the switch is, if no switch them its a plug to connect a switch too, the machine is designed to do 24 mph just like an electric bike but i have not figured out how to derestrict that yet, (allthough i do know legally it will not be classed as a mobility scooter anymore !!)

as you can tell i like using (((OvO))) lol, get back to me if anything else is needed

In Hybrid Theory to derestrict it to do 24mph you have to change the MMU to a standard electric bike MMU, it might involve changing the wiring loom and the gear switch a little and will probably bring the LAW (its not a Mobility Scooter) with it, there is another 2 wires there i found on mine but i never connected it (i will in time just for s*** and giggles)

(i have also built electric bikes from scratch that did 34 mph)

let me ask you why they are in electric cars and bikes as well as anything built today that is electric, including your vape/phone ect, (Lifepo4 are good for motors)(lithium is good full stop) do the research my friend and by the way i use my mobility scooter in all weathers so i suppose i have a more reliable power source and the weather does not stop me as i have water proofed all the electrics on it as well
