Thank you so much for getting back to me. I do know about the switch that's thanks to you again (I saw it on an earlier post) and that was the first thing I did when the demo guy had left. ๐Ÿ˜

Now to the batteries. I'm really tempted to just go big and go for the 100Ah so I won't have to really worry about where I go (within reason obviously.) I won't have to worry about the drainage of the batteries when I go up these ridiculous hills round here to get home either. My battery practically died on me coming home today up one of those hills so that was fun but I think that's also down to my charger only half charging the battery at the moment for some reason (constant green light when charging or not when it was red before id plug it into the scooter) either way the new batteries will sort that out anyway.

Would The 100Ah be a pain in the a##e to fit or would it just be a case of taking the tray out and a bit of persuasion? And also would I need a different charger from the one you sent me? If so please let me know which one I'll need.

So basically I need the 60v motor you sent, 5 massive 12V batteries and a charger. I hope this is right.

Thanks again for your time. You're a true gentleman and I hope to hear back from you soon

Hi all. Though it's great to have this discussion and to share the information and advice about your experiences, please keep in mind that some of these suggestions may make your device illegal and not covered by warranty etc.

Thanks for the reminder Holly, i have already stated that fact above, however the law has changed and we are allowed to go 15mph (class 2= 4mph, class3= 8mph (has to be registered with DVLA nowadays), 15mph= No class and has to be registered as a mobility scooter with DVLA as with class 3) if the mobility scooter is built to do it and has all the bits it needs eg brakes all round ect, it is all on the GOV website now

Yeah i would buy that for a grand, although i doubt its a mobility scooter or can be registered as, it looks to be just a standard Chinese built scooter to me, it has to have a certificate to be a mobility scooter in this country as far as i know

This is an Israeli scooter weighing 35 kg and costing $8000. And I can fit it into the trunk of a regular car with some adjustments, but obviously I can't fit a "UK" mobility scooter.

Hi! Is Scope as a charity doing anything to improve the ability of disabled people to move independently? Clearly the regulations are out of date and the world's only ban on lightweight, low-speed two-wheeled scooters is just plain stupid.

Hi @egister I'm not that we are currently actively pursuing this, but you can contact our campaigns team at campaigns@Scope.org.uk if you'd like to put something forward.

    Best wishes,

    Holly

According to Gov.UK, a scooter capable of 15mph must only be used on the road, and the user has to have a valid UK driving licence.

They are not allowed on cycle paths etc, so would be of limited use to many of us.
