Reducing anxiety by challenging negative thoughts
This session will help you to understand how anxiety and stress affect our thoughts, feelings and behaviours We will explore how you can use strategies from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to begin to challenge negative thinking. This will help you to feel better equipped to tackle difficult situations or situations that you may have been avoiding.
In this session, you will learn
- What anxiety is
- What your own personal triggers are for feeling anxious and how this then affect how you think and act
- The links between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours using the principles of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy)
- Ways to challenge and change your negative thoughts so that they are more realistic
- How a more realistic thinking style can help you to manage situations which you find challenging

This session is designed for adults with cerebral palsy
