Hi both myself and husbsnd are disabled we have moved to uc from tax credits we havetransitional prorection of £650 will we lose it if i claim lcwra of £418

    Your Transitional protection would reduce by the LCWRA amount.

    It might also be relevant to say with joint claims you can have one LCWRA & one carers element.

    You can't for example have LCWRA for both.

    Thank you for your quick reply can i withdraw from applying for lcwra what is the point of putting myself thru a medical assesment to have my tp reduced by that amount myself and my husband care for each other anyway and both get the caters element

    so if they reduce my tp for the lcwra award of £418 will they remove 1 carers element so i be £198 a month worse of

    If your UC currently includes 2 carers elements then yes this is exactly what they will do..

    There's an Upper Tribunal hearing for exactly this on 30th October.

    Hi do you know if i can cancel the claim for lcwra for myself i was advised wrong i thought i had to apply for lcwra as it stands im im my husband carer and he mine both get carers element and Tp im unable to work anyway as im my husband carer

    As a carer you have no commitments anyway so won't be expected to look for work or attend appointments.

    Have you been referred for the work capability assessment yet? If not then put a message onto your journal to ask them to cancel it.

    Yes i just recieved an appoitment a face to face in out town centre why woukd any 1 put theyre self thru an asesment just to be worse of i will put it in my journal thank you

    sorry read thag wrong i had a letter this morning yo go for an assesment the 30th oct is it to late to cancel the claim now

    You can try ringing the number on the letter to cancel it and tell them you no longer want to continue with the assessment.
