Hello @triskele. Have you received your first statement or are you at the submitting your claim stage?
0 -
we submitted everything on the 6th . Then got an email as a warning that a notification has seriously impacted your UC claim. Transpires it was the Carers allowance .
0 -
That sounds correct, Carer's Allowance is deducted from your total UC award. Did you receive any other benefits or just WTC?
0 -
just WTC with severe disablement fir myself . Pip for me & my husband .
0 -
because they deduct the carers allowance it has made our income much less than it was . So it’s not the same as they implied it would be .

You should then receive transitional protection bringing your total income to the same as what you were receiving on WTC @triskele. Have you reported being carers to UC when applying?
0 -
yes I told them we were carers but they said it was a deduction . I have heard nothing about transition protection from them

Carers allowance is deducted in full, you need to make sure that your UC also includes carers element. Can you please confirm if you've had your first statement yet?
0 -
no statement yet . I was told that I should get the same sound of UC as I did tax credits without the carers allowance being deducted . I got £800 a month T.c plus the carers allowance

For Transitional Protection (TP) they first need to work out your maximum UC entitlement and compare that to what your Tax credits entitlement was. If Tax credits were higher than what your UC entitlement is then your UC will include TP.
If you submitted your claim on 6th November that will mean your assessment period dates are 6th to 5th of every month and your payment date should be 12th of every month, unless payment date falls on a weekend or bank holiday and then you'll receive your payment on the last working day before.
I would have expected you to have received your statement by now. Is there anything outstanding on your "to do list" please check because if there is then this can affect your statement being produced. If there isn't then put a message onto your journal and ask about your statement.

nothing to do - all done - if they take carers off the couple amount - we will only have the care element x2 … so nowhere near the tax credits of £875
0 -
I also got severe disablement on the tax credits
0 -
You will also get Standard Allowance under UC.
For a couple that is £617.60
0 -
don’t they take the carers off that
0 -
carers for two people Is £709 a month - so that’s more than the couple’s allowance.
Which means we might get 2 carers elements -
No where near £875 on tax credits where CA is not deducted . I think we are going to die financially .

If you are worse off under UC then Transitional Protection is added, so you are not worse off at the time of transfer.
The amount does erode over time if you become eligible for other elements, annual rises etc.
Please see my reply on your other comment seeking information on the LCWRA process.

Are you renting your home? any children on your claim?

Please also check that your payment date is 12th December because you said you claimed on 6th November. The date you submitted your claim will be the start of your assessment period, which lasts for 1 calendar month.
