Neuodivergent child waiting on an IDP, Need advice about schooling & neglecful school
Hello, i need some advice if anyone can help please. my son has suspecteed autism/ADHD he is 13, he has been refered to St Davids for a diagnosis. We have been let down by the school firstly a missed referal to St davids in year 5 after waiting 3 years and chasing this up we realised he was never referred. He was on a PSP, but currently doesnt attend school at all. i feel like he has been strongly let down byt the educational system throughtout his school yeaqrs and im constantly fighting to get him help. Im currently waiting for the school to do an IDP, this has been over 30 days of waiting, aswell as constantly chasing them for work so i can try and homeschool in the meantime. My son is deteriorating dramatically as the days go on, he has been o0ut of school for nearly two months and was promised the IDP last month but still nothing. He can not attened a school that can accomidate his needs without this IDP and have been told once the IDP is done he would need to be on the ALN register for minimum of two school terms. I was thinking of writting to the chair of governors as this is not possible we have been waiting far to long already and he needs a placement now! His mental health is at crisis point and ive reached out to everry organisation possible for help but waiting lists are so long. i feel he has been strongly let down and he is now sufffering greatly. would anyone have any advice please, do we have to wait two terms on the register before getting a placement in a SEN school? Is it worth writting to the chair of governors as its been over 30 days since i was promised the IDP? Any help would be appreciated! Thankyou for reading.
