Hi @liz01, I have heard about people getting unexpected calls from PIP. Sometimes they just need to check a bit of information for your claim, but they don't usually do the full phone assessments at random without arranging it with you first.

Have you got a date for your phone assessment yet or are you still waiting to hear?

It is not uncommon for a DWP officer to call out of the blue ( not the health assessment body ATOS etc ) when you are being reviewed for PIP. They will call back if you are unable to pick up. This indicates that the review was able to done without a formal reassessment by a health professional - a paper based decision in other words. They will probably just need to confirm one or two factual things relating to your claim.

You would not get a random call for a full telephone assessment by a health professional - you would be given a specific date & time as Rosie_Scope says above

    Best wishes

As they have confirmed that you need a full assessment then your claim will not be paper based. They do sometimes ring to see if they can complete the report without an assessment. As it wasn’t possible for this a full assessment is needed.
