Migration from UC rent question
Hello. Due to migrate over to UC soon. My question is that UC housing costs are paid pcm and the rent from the HA is charged weekly minus bedroom tax.
The calculation for HB at the moment is weekly and is paid 4 weeks in arrears.
Is this still calculated in the same way on UC as HB?
If calculated as weekly the rent 521 and that would mean 13 payments, instead of 12.
Uc pay 12 payments not 13 so would there would be a shortfall in payment.
I think the pcm amount works out as 564. This would then be 12 payments. So if the amount pcm is put down does this mean uc will pay this or will the payment be the weekly calculated x 4 as is the case now.
The HA have said they prefer the pcm payment but if this is the case can you still as for account payments to be made in arrears as it is now on HB as they are saying one payment upfront depending on if you pay weekly or pcm. Surely it would still be paid in arrears on uc as on hb.
Sorry, now totally confused as whether to pay weekly or monthly! I
Letters for rent are weekly so then would it mean me having to ask for another letter with the pcm amount on to send in. If so, do you think this would cause more confusion as would have to ask for a pcm letter every time there is a change in rent!
If you are migrating to UC and are in HA do you have to provide a letter for rent or do they contact them automatically as poppy has said in q previous thread just to check. Thanks

I live in social housing and rent is charged weekly.
When I applied I didn't have to upload any documents, UC go to the social housing provider to confirm the rent amount that you declare on application.
Each year in April UC will aak you to update your rent amount with the annual rise.
UC is a monthly benefit so your rent will be divided into 12 payments, with each one being a calendar month worth. I just semd the whole amount to my landlord each month. They don't insist on being in credit.
I did pay I think 3 weeks out of pocket, so my account didn't get into arrears waiting for the first UC payment.
Your HA will be well used to tenants on UC, just ask them what to do.
