Advice needed
Hi everyone
I am a mum of 4. I have a son of 17 who is autistic and 5 year old twin girls who are also autistic.
Twin one is diagnosed and twin 2 is on the waiting list.
I was looking for advice.
I live with my partner who works but unfortunately I have just had to give up work due to the girls having lots of difficulties at school.
they started school in September this year and after 2 days they put them on a reduced time table and they had to go in separately. This went on for 9 weeks.
They are now in together but we’ve had suspension 4 times.
as you can imagine it is impossible to work.
I already claim carers for my son so can’t claim for the twins and I have just applied for dla for one of the twins.
Is there anything else I am entitled to as we have a mortgage to pay and I’m really concerned about our finances with me not being able to work.
Any advice would be really appreciated

The only other benefit you can look at will be Universal Credit but it's means tested. As you live with your partner you'll need to claim as a couple and your joint circumstances will be taken into consideration. If you have capital of more than £16,000 you're excluded from claiming.
You can use a benefits calculator to check entitlement. Make sure you include details that you're a carer and claim carers allowance.

You won't be able to claim for help with your mortgage through UC as this can only include help with any rent liability.
There's Support for mortgage interest but this is just a loan and needs to be repaid back in the future.
For DLA for the other twin, you do not need a diagnosis to be able to claim.

Hi @han54321 and welcome to the online community. 😊
Thank you for sharing. I can see you've had some great feedback from @poppy123456 so I won't add anything at this point, but please let us know if you need anything else. Also, how you get on if you're comfortable sharing as it may help others going through similar experiences.
I hope you're able to explore the forum categories. The coffee lounge is a great place to speak with others in the community if you fancy a break from the day to day. It's always full of friendly discussions.
Best wishes,
Holly.
