I’m going to submit my claim for UC next week, I don’t want to wait any longer

Budgeting can be very tricky for anyone @ChrisSCOPEhtfc94, but especially for autistic people as you need to be able to understand concepts which are not concrete.
It is good that the split of the single large payment will help you.
My son can't understand that 'a lot' of money could mean anything depending on context. He had a lot of work of teaching concepts but he can't really get it.
You do well to manage your own claim - do you live with parents who can help you?
It is a lot of responsibility managing a claim. As I am now finding with the UC mess we are in. Though my son isn't really affected - it is my job to sort it out as the appointee. Quite rightly as it's me that mucked it up!🙉🙉🙉🙊

I live at home 🏡🏠 with my parents (mum 👩 and dad 👨), that’s always been the case @anisty.

I got paid £318.10 every fortnight when I was in the ESA Support Group @anisty. I didn’t get the SDP/Severe Disability Premium when I was on ESA because my mum/mother is my carer, she gets Carer’s Allowance.
1 -
The money I get paid goes into my own bank 🏦 account, my mother or father doesn’t have any control over how I handle my finances. I do as best as I can to handle my finances but I know I’d have not been able to accept monthly payments @anisty.

It’d have been too big a change to move to monthly payments from ‘fortnightly’ ESA payments @anisty.
1 -
Twice monthly payments won’t be exactly like the old ESA payment structure, a payment every 14 days. But it’s the closest I’ll get to the old ESA fortnightly structure and it’ll still meet my needs. After all, it’s still more frequent than a monthly lump sum @anisty 🤣🤣.

That’s why I qualified to be paid more frequently @anisty (the highlighted text).
When you look at that image I have attached, they’d have been crazy to turn down my request. I met the criteria easily. My lack of budgeting skills is linked to the condition I have.2 -
That sounds like an arrangement that works for you @ChrisSCOPEhtfc94 and living at home means your parents can be there for anything you need👍
A good arrangement all round👌
My boy likes living at home too. I just made his tea for him🙂 He doesn't like the same food as us so I need to cook something else.
He has a chocolate trifle and a cheesy pasta thing🍜🍫

My dad is now retried and receives his State Pension (the full rate btw). He deserves it because he worked very hard, in a job as well that he didn’t even like (delivering tyres to garages). He retired last July @anisty.

My mum is a few years off her State Pension, in 2029 I think she’ll start getting it @anisty.
Dad is 66 years of age (born 1958) and my mum is 62 years of age (born 1962). 📆🗓️📅1 -
I don’t eat very healthily I’m afraid @anisty 🤣😂. I like my junk food 🍱🍲🥘, chips 🍟 , cheeseburgers 🍔, that kind of stuff 🤤😋. I don’t eat vegetables. I don’t like certain types of food in my mouth 👄 for texture reasons.

I do like an apple 🍏🍎 but the skin would need to come off it. I just don’t like certain textures when chewing @anisty.

My mother actually tried to get Universal Credit a few months ago. She was encouraged to do it by a few people. My mother and dad did a joint claim over the phone last October (2024). @anisty

They weren’t entitled to anything because my dad’s State Pension (full rate, no gaps in his National Insurance record) knocked down the entitlement done to £0.
0 -
That was the main reason why they weren’t entitled to anything. They took his State Pension and her Carer’s Allowance into consideration. @anisty

My mother isn’t bothered about it @anisty, she just says “nothing lost, nothing gained”.

For the last few months they’ve been sending paper statements through the post 📬📮 with £0 on it @anisty.
Personally, I think they’ll stop sending the paper statements after 6 months of £0 entitlement. So far, UC have sent 4 paper statements.

Yup! My son won't eat ANY 🍇🍈🍉🍊🍋🍌🍍🥭🍎🍏🍐🍑🍒🍓🫐🥝🍅🫒🥥🥑 or 🥔🥕🌽🌶🫑🥒🥬🥦🧅 but he will eat 🍞🥐🥖🥞🧇🧀🍖🍗🥩🍟🌭🍳🍜🍩🍪🎂🍰🧁🍫
At the moment he has 🍳 every single day for lunch.
This is a new development as he used to have one packet of bacon flavoured super noodles every single day for about 7 years! Finally, he got sick of them.
He does love bagels.
And chocolate. But he has noticed a change in Cadbury's chocolate. He says it has gone "waxy"
He is VERY thin. But he never ever, ever gets ill. Weird considering he has hardly any vitamins in his diet🤔
My daughter can't eat apples because she can't stand the crunchy noise of them inside her own head😖🍏🎧🔕
I am 4 years younger than your mum (58) My eldest daughter is 32. She lives alone👩🎨🎨🖼 She is an artist.
My eldest son is 28. He drives a forklift and lives with his girlfriend and their daughter👪🚚
My middle son is 26. He lives at home and has supported work in a ☕🫖 café.
And volunteers in a charity shop
And goes to his support group to play games on the🎮🕹💻
My youngest son is 22. He lives at home and works in a shop that sells🌭🥪🍩🍪 but he is very clever and hopefully will get a better job working with💻🖥⌨
My youngest daughter is 17. She is at college🎫🎟 doing theatre back stage. She has applied to work at the BBC. If she gets in, she will need to leave 🏡
We have two 🐕🐶 and two 🐈⬛🐈 and two 🐹🐖 (guinea pigs - no emoji!)
I hope you like all the emojis I found for this post😂

Yes, I love ❤️♥️💓 the emojis 🤣😹. Thanks for chatting 💬, I think I’d like to bring it to a close now. I hope you don’t mind but it’s been great having this chat today ✅✔️☑️👍.
And you don’t have to worry about me leaving the forum, that won’t be happening. I’m staying. I’m just going to work extra hard to spot any errors before it’s too late to get rid of them 🤣😹.One day I do hope to have the ability to have a whole hour ⏰🕰️⏱️ to edit posts. That would obviously be better than just 15 minutes 🤣🤣.
