Hi, my name is macdeann!

Hello everyone, I am seeking advice on benefit transition to state pension.
I currently receive IR ESA with disability premiums and PIP at the higher rate. I am due on the 18/1 to transit to state pension at the full rate. I recently received a letter regarding ESA payment change on the 17/1. It showed a payment reduction of just over £100 per week. I am confused as I thought the ESA payments would end totally. I was also told when I telephoned with my code for state pension claim that I should claim pension credit. I also saw on this site that I should claim UC. I am totally confused, and would welcome some experienced knowledge please.
Thankyou

ESA will end for you totally, as it's a working age benefit.
UC is also only for those of working age, or in a mixed age couple.
Once you are of state pension age you can apply for Pension Credit.
Your PIP will carry on as before.

Hi Kimmy87
I wrote a reply to you, but I can't see it. Many thanks for your helpful information.
I just didn't understand why ESA showing a reduction rather than payments ending.
thank you again.

Thankyou Kimmy87
I thought the same as you.
I just don't understand why ESA letter says that from 17th Jan I will receive !£138.20 a week. many thanks for your reply.

£138.20 is the amount of Contributions Based/New Style ESA. Neither of those are paid past retirement age either.
ESA letters are well known for making no sense.
Looks like they've just put down your premiums ending instead of it all ending.
