Welcome @ronnie1. Loving the dog picture - they're adorable!

Now, I'm far from a mechanic but after a quick google of "regenerate filter" it definitely seems like a car problem to me! I'd be tempted to contact their customer services department directly and raise this formally (if you've not already).

    Best wishes,

    Holly.

    Thanks Holly,

Due for 1 year service in a week.Said they could put an additive in for £20 (motability car) but I've to pay. If needed they should add for free.

    WWe Will see.

    Regards Ronnie

I would say it's unlikely that Motability will allow you to end the lease on this vehicle because something could be wrong.

I did a quick google, do you do a lot of short journey's? If so then this could be your problem. You are correct that they should not charge you for anything at all.

    HI Poppy,

Yes you right on both counts but kia should not be able to tell me how many miles I must travel. Car not fit for purpose. Will see what dealer has to say this time with a complaint to Arnold Clark head office as receptionist very rude first time it happened.

    Thanks for your input,

    Regards Ronnie

They shouldn't be rude to you but advising that short journey's is the cause is fine. I would also put a complaint in with Motability and tell them exactly what's happened and also mentioned you were told there would be a £20 charge.

The problem isn't with the car, when the regen light comes on you need to keep driving to clear the exhaust, you need to drive over 40 mph at least or get on a motorway doing 70 mph till the light goes off meaning the regen has finished.

It's not the amount of miles you do, it's the short stop/start journeys that aren't helping.
