Hi there,

I have been awarded lcwra and the dates are as follows.

Fit note submitted on 10/10/24 - 10/1/25

Assessment by phone on 7/1/25

Decision to give me LCWRA 14/1/25.

My question is when will I receive payment ? I get paid on the 4th of month but on 4/2/25 I receive no extra money according to my statement.

Regards,

Dennis.

LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods, from the date the first Fit Note was handed in. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.

October/November: Partial AP, excluded from waiting period.

    November/December: AP 1

    December/January: AP 2

    January/February: AP 3

    February/March: Eligible for LCWRA element.

4th April: First LCWRA element paid*

No money is owed in backpay.

*If you have Transitional Protection on the claim, it will reduce by the LCWRA amount.

*If you have Carers Element in your name on the claim, LCWRA will replace this as the same person cannot get both.

*If you have a partner on your claim who gets LCWRA, no money will be paid as within a couple the maximum number of LCWRA elements is 1.

    Thanks Kimmy,

Most helpful but as I read it doesn't that take the waiting period to 5 months as opposed to 3? Sorry for asking just not sure as to how it works. Incidentally JC+ asked me to submit a further fit note which I got covering 10/1/25 - 10/7/25 which I reported on my journal only to be told I no longer need to submit. Would it be in my best interest to obtain another when this one expires just to cover myself? I retire in December 2025.

The waiting period is 3 full assessment periods. It’s then paid from the 4th month after you provided your first fit note, with first payment being the end of that month. This is because UC is paid 1 month in arrears. As kimmy advised because you reported your first fit note in the middle of assessment period Oct/Nov, this doesn’t count because it’s not a full month.

You will not need to provide any further fit notes after the decision was made and it should tell you that on the decision letter.

    Thanks poppy,

JC+ requested the fit note via my journal then the department that awarded me lcwra said I didn't need to after I'd got one.
