Joint claim Minimum Income Floor

hello, I am self employed on a joint claim with my wife, she is in receipt of LCFW and pip, I have just been told that the minimum income floor now applies to me but when I went self employed 12 months ago was told in person that it wouldn’t as my wife is disabled, which is correct?

Good morning @TheDreadedVikingWolf.
Unless you receive the carer element or LCW/LCWRA yourself, the minimum income floor (MIF) will apply to you as a self-employed person. It sounds as though the 12-month period was your start-up grace period, during which the MIF hasn't been applied.
Could they have meant that the benefit cap wouldn’t apply to you?
Since your wife is in receipt of PIP, if you care for her for more than 35 hours a week, you may be eligible to claim the carer element of UC. This would mean the MIF would no longer apply to you.
