Limited capability to work

We migrated from income support to universal credit in 2024. We got our first payment on 30th October.
On 7th October I submitted my first fit note and have continued to do so. In December I sent off my work capability form. Yesterday I had a message in my journal saying I have limited capability for work and work-related activities. It says we may get extra money and may be owed some.
My question is, do they send out a separate letter explaining what extra we get? And does anyone know how long this will take please.
We've really been struggling since moving to universal credit.

Which UC elements are currently on your claim, for the both of you?
Do you get Transitional Protection on your claim, if so how much please?
Were there any gaps in handing in your Fit Notes, any that were backdated etc?

Hi Kimmy! We get uc for myself and my husband (who is my full time carer) and our 3 children. They take off the money from the carers allowance I think. Then we get transition protection of £261.63 and Housing allowance of £420.23. We are also paying back an advance we took when we started getting universal credit and an older budgeting loan. My fit notes have been on time apart from one due on 25th December which my GP backdated when they reopened in January.

Your Transitional Protection will end due to the LCWRA award.
That is £416.19, so your award before deductions should increase by £154.56.
£416.19 - £261.63 = £154.56
Unfortunately due to the break in your Fit Notes, they will probably start the waiting period from January. As the waiting period is three full assessment periods, no backpay would be due. The date you provide the Fit Note to UC is what counts, not the date on there.
If they do apply that waiting period, you could request a Mandatory Reconsideration of that decision, as GP was closed 26th December. A Decision Maker would then look again at that decision. If the answer is no change, you can take the matter to an independent appeal tribunal.
December/January: Partial Assessment Period, not counted for waiting period
January/February: AP1
February/March: AP2
March/April: AP3
April/May: Eligible for LCWRA element
30th May: First LCWRA element paid.
The next correspondence from UC will be the changes on your payment statement, TP being removed & LCWRA being added.
Carers Allowance being deducted is correct. Just checking you also receive Carers Element in your husbands name on the claim?
