Upcoming changes to benefits

Targeting the disabled is the lowest of the low.
This Labour Government has already declared that the National Health Service England will be no more.
You wonder what Nye Bevan would have made of this Labour Lot ?

It's a start, but there's still going to be a big fight to come on their other proposals.
This was 1 element though that in theory I thought they would have been able to change effectively immediately from next year. Whereas changing PIP eligibility is going to require legislation and take years, and likely face legal challenges, where it's unlikely to remain as whatever they unveil next week.
There's also no mention of whatever this plan is to cut people on LCWRA, which is going to have a lot of crossover, and is still completely awful.
It is good news that a lot of Labour MPs are not happy though, including cabinet members. There are likely many that realise the damage this will do to their party, as this is the sort of thing that you'll see a list in 5 years of Labour MPs who voted for these cuts. Many also likely will fear losing their seats if they aren't seen to oppose this.

This is why if they don't backtrack on the rest of it in the green paper where a hard backlash from us happens and we accept things like 25% or 50% off
Lcwra and tinkering if that is present it needs to pushed back because that's simply a slower way of fazing out benefits so we must really read between the lines if necessary. Same with tightening of PIP. The Tory proposals were defeated but these are much worse.

True! But in comparison to some other papers they are pretty reliable

I think incompetence usually much better explains the actions of politicians than sadism or psychosis. They certainly haven't embarked on a policy which would likely do their party immense electoral harm because they know what they're doing. But let's leave that one there.

DWP destroyed reports into claimants who committed suicide after their benefits ...The DWP has been accused of “a cover-up” after

I'll have a look when it's back up.

Sure they would if they are millionaires or nearly Sir Keir is a multi millionaire Rachel Reeves and her husband and Liz Kendall and her husband have amazing amount of revenue. Between them. Its not like the key figures rely solely on an mps salary . They can afford to take risks and walk away unnamed if it doesn't pay off. It's thr mps that solely rely on their mp salaries that can't. Before them millionaire the right honorable Cam and multimillionaire Sunak and least we forget multimillionaire Tony Blair.

Taking risks and electoral suicide are not the same thing. Sir Keir is off to a disastrous start and RR is already the ex-chancellor in waiting. They will likely lose an upcoming by-election despite a pretty large majority eight months ago.
More a circus act than Bond villains.

But don't take my word for it ask John McDonnell Ed balls Red Ed and the Labour mps being summoned to pacify a rebellion

"The comments this isnt a Labour thing to do" "Cruel sick cuts" and red Ed defending those from cuts would have more of an idea what they feel is crossing a red line or in their case steamrolling across them

That would rather back up what I'm saying then, wouldn't it? That this is the result of rank incompetence by rank amateurs as opposed to an evil masterplan?
0 -
Again - this would indicate KS, RR et al don't even understand their own party or voters let alone anything else.
0 -
Which begs the question why you'd take up a job which kind of involves understanding your own party and voters unless just there for power prestige and to open some door and contacts for your own portfolio
0 -
Not really. Almost by definition, it would never cross their minds how much they were unaware of. And the reasons you'd take a job that would likely involve running the country are obvious.

You can defend them all you want that's you prerogative if you feel they are nice compassionate people 'misunderstood' fair play. Forgive me and some veterans labour and ex Labour mps that find it cruel in their words.
If they still go ahead cruel in action

Liz Kendall new quotes trying to be on the charm offensive and paint herself as understanding
Labour backbenchers can’t be stupid enough to buy this twaddle can they
Found her newest quotes a tad condescending and vomit worthy that she’s painting herself as the good guy but still backs policies that will negatively impact vast majority of us
Woman can’t be role shifted soon enough imo

one thing that’s clear - our community backlash is somewhat hitting (not sure if it’s actually making a mark or we are just having the impact of an annoying fly)
but let’s keep up the pressure
prehaps Gov still don’t respect us or find us annoying but we’ve only been at it a week
Let’s see if opinions shift after 12, 26, 52+ weeks of similar continuous pressure
gov has underestimated stubbornness and obsessiveness of disabled as a group of ppl imo

Btw do you know how many people have emailed them with all the info about how much suffering they are going through even on here? You've heard them here so have they..That's neither incompetence or ignorance. If I was bombarded with those kind of emails I wouldn't be able to say well I went ahead because I didn't know or I guess I'm just incompetent.
I think they have enough ppl to back them up on these cuts as it is without the disabled and long-term sick doing their bidding too.

a possible pip freeze was the least of our worries (don’t get affected by a freeze if you can’t get the award in the first place)
Don’t mistake a plastic twig for an olive branch!
