Hi I've read through all the discussions about spending. Yes they can!!!!!
They asked me for 4 months bank statements and asked me about some transactions I'd made and I had to tell them exactly where I spend my daily money. Threatened me with a sanction and a date for documents to be uploaded by. I was also spoken to by a person who had broken English and couldn't understand me as I'm Scottish.
