Confused on today's news cuts

I am confused. So is lcwra being scrapped for existing claimants ? The standard universal credit rate going up is that for everyone? Also when all these changes start How do you have to claim pip to be able not look for work

I have also googled how long it's takes from green paper to come into effect. It's says from several months to years

Hi Neil
So these changes are expected to come into effect around October 2026, so noting for a year and a half.
So LCWRA isn't being scrapped……. yet, however it's been frozen (so will not increase when other benefits do) and will be reduced to £50 per week for new claimants from 2026/27 for it (So people currently undergoing WCA assessments) and then being scrapped in 2028, so it means you will only have 1 assessment for both.
So theyre essentally going to be getting rid of this "not looking for work" criteria so even if you're award LCWRA you may have to attend appointments in the JC and be expected to look for work.
However I wouldn't worry too much, this has to be passed legally, so a judge may consider this unlawful which has happened in the past quite recently.
But keep calm and carry on until late 2026 i would say0 -
Thanks for replying. What about people currently on lcwra. Are they being reviewed? I was awarded mine last August. So I'm dreading if they going to contact me soon .

Hi @neil12345 just wanted to add, it might be worth taking a look at a discussion where a lot of our members are coming together to share their concerns/questions, and support one another. This is called - The Green Paper Discussion 🙂
We'd prefer to keep the conversations regarding this all in one place, so as to protect the mental health of all on the community, so we will be closing this discussion. I hope you understand.
