Proposed Cuts to the Disability Benefits

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all continuing to keep safe and stay well.

I don't need to tell anyone that at the moment, my anxiety levels are rising due to the Green Paper which has recently been published outlining the government's proposals to cut and reasses PIP.

I was migrated onto PIP when the government phased out DLA. I am very worried about the government's proposals and the fact that my PIP may be taken away from me.

I have had lifelong Cerebral Palsy characterised as Spastic Diplegia. This means that although all four limbs are affected, my legs are affected more than my arms. I cannot stand for any length of time and my right side of my body is substantially weaker than my left.

All my meals are prepared for me. Although I have the intellectual capacity to prepare meals and know what to do - physically my disability does not allow me to do it.

I also take longer to get ready in the morning, as I cannot be rushed.

If the government take my PIP away from me - then where will I be? I would welcome any thoughts and contributions at a difficult time for many people with Cerebral Palsy

    Hi @Balkar

It's very understandable why you are feeling so anxious, it is a very unknown time

We've created this discussion for everyone to talk about it here - The Green Paper Discussion

We'd prefer to keep the conversations regarding this all in one place, so as to protect the mental health of all on the community, so we will be closing this discussion. I hope you understand.
