PIP CHANGE TO 18?

jjust going through process from dla to pip BUT
What about the young people and parents/ carers that are going through the process now to gain pip.
For example pip is denied!!
but if still on Dla till 18 the benefit of dla would still be in place !!
would Dla be reinstated due to protection or would you have to claim dla again
nothing makes sense

I'm not sure what you mean by protection so will leave others to answer that.
The key to getting a pip award is getting your head around what the descriptors are getting at.
And thinking about how the applicant manages each descriptor.
What happens when he tries to do each one? If he cannot achieve it - what is stopping him?
Pick out the stages of each descriptor that the applicant cannot complete and then link it to your supporting medical evidence.
You need to link it together yourself (or the applicant does)
It is no use saying a meal cannot be prepared because the applicant has - had a stroke, has cerebral palsy, has autism, has a profound learning disability.
None of that will score any points at all. It isn't enough by itself.
You need to actually say exactly how the disability has caused loss of/failure to acquire function whether that be physical disability or cognitive disability or both.
Submitting old evidence is worth it if it is relevant. For example - cognitive testing, results of ADOS (autism) medical results detailing after effects of brain injury, paralysis etc.
What is not useful is tons and tons of paperwork showing GP or hospital visits.
Include supporting evidence that backs up your responses to descriptors.

Whilest I see why they are raising the age group for PIP from 16 to 18 I understand why but I also enjoyed the freedom PIP gave me in college

Well, the green paper, even if it became law today is saying no change until 2026 so now is a very good time to change from DLA to PIP i would have thought.
Any award given would stay as is until review.
But in reality this paper has a few more hurdles to overcome before it becomes law.
I will need to have a look at no pip til 18. I didn't see that part.
I saw the bit about no LCWRA til 22.
My son was supposed to change onto pip at 16 but, in reality, he was 21 before they got round to it and they kept paying his DLA until he was 21.
