Hi everyone,

I am seeking advice on whether my 12-year-old nephew with severe cerebral palsy can get medical treatment in the UK. He was diagnosed at birth, but unfortunately, he has never received proper medical care.

He cannot speak, stand, or walk.

Why isn't he able to get treatment where he lives?

    Hi @ceyni

Welcome to the community. I'm wondering where your nephew lives.

Does he have access to a pediatrician or specialist care? As part of their care plan, children with cerebral palsy generally have access to a range of medical professionals, OT, Physio and medical reviews.

I would recommend you and his family talk to his GP and explain your concerns.

    Kind regards

    Hi @SaraC_Scope ,

Thank you, for your response and kind words.

My nephew lives in Kenya, and unfortunately, he has never received proper specialist care. And he has not had regular medical reviews since birth. Due to limited medical facilities.

This is why we are looking for hospitals or charities in the UK or other countries that might offer free or sponsored treatment for children with severe cerebral palsy.
