Hi, my name is Scooby123! What is going to happen if you are in receipt of lctwra but not pip...

What is going to happen if you are in receipt of lctwra but not pip, I just needed the acknowledgement of the health conditions I have and why I genuinely can't work, I had a major brain operation when I was 18 to remove a tumour from my frontal lobe and part of the frontal lobe causing damage I have suffered from cognitive issues and learning disabilities ever since I'm now 42, I suffer from fibromyalgia and autoimmune disease and petit mal seizures when stressed. I am standoffish in my attitude due to the operation I had a majority of my health issues are from my brain operation. I've been told I will have my lctwra taken away and made to undergo pip and I don't think I will cope with it, I will be made to work or loose all uc?

Welcome to the Scope forum. I’m sorry to hear about your health issues. While I’m sure someone with more knowledge can offer structured advice, as far as I know, no immediate changes are happening. The plan to abolish Work Capability Assessments is only proposed for 2028, and anyone awarded LCWRA before 2026 will have protection.
If your conditions affect your daily living or mobility, you may still be eligible to apply for PIP. You don’t have to navigate the forms alone-organisations like Citizens Advice can help, and I’ve heard from others that DWP sometimes assist over the phone or with home visits to complete the paperwork .
I hope you get the correct support you deserve. Please be assured that no immediate changes are taking place .

Hi @Scooby123 and welcome to the community ☺️ You're not alone with your questions and concerns. As @noonebelieves has mentioned, the green paper release is very much the initial stage where the government outlines their initial intentions, however we're now entering consultation which will allow us an opportunity to respond to these.
A lot of people are wondering what they can do to get involved and it’s important to know that cuts to disability benefits are not inevitable. We’d love for you to join Scope in pushing back against these cuts. Here are some of the ways you can get involved:
- Add your name to our petition
- Invite your MP to our parliamentary event
- Respond to the consultation by 30 June 2025.
We also have a longer discussion on the proposed changes members are joining which you can find here: Green Paper Discussion
Best wishes,
