Hi everyone. I’ve just joined the community as I’m fast approaching pension age, early but it’s still approaching. I’m looking for some wise advice from anyone who knows about pensions and benefits.

I currently receive ESA, LCWRA, U/C and Pip higher rates in both parts.

I’ve just put my application form in to my GP to claim my NHS work pension early on medical grounds as there’s simply no way I will ever work as a paramedic again. The question is, if I am awarded my nhs pension on medical grounds then is it means tested against my PIP.
I know by claiming the nhs pension will definitely have me taken off ESA & LCWRA as I assume I’ll be over any benefit cap to be entitled to them so I understand that however, will it affect my pip? I’ll still be disabled no matter what so will I still receive pip if I still meet their criteria or will my nhs be classed as medical and not be taken into account so therefore still getting what I’m entitled to.
someone mentioned to me because it would be a medical retirement pension then it shouldn’t affect my PIP.

I can’t take some random persons word for it so hence I’m asking on here where someone may know so I can’t take prepare if I do get my nhs pension awarded earlier than anticipated.

Many thanks in advance

J

Hi @Staffs212 and welcome to the community. 🙂 I hope you don't mind but I've added a few "tags" and moved your post to an area that hopefully will help make it easier for our members who can advise from their experiences to find. I hope that's ok.

    oh of course that’s ok.
mum sorry if was in breach of any rules and posted it in the wrong section.
Thank you so much for picking up on my post and moving it to the appropriate area.
maybe someone will be able to help as pensions are very confusing and especially when you know they will affect any disability benefits we receive.
    minefield 🤯😆

    Thanks again
