Review request but want to close claim

Hi, I am after a bit of advice. We have not been claiming universal credit very long. 6 months. But we have had a review request. My husband is self employed, I have a child under 2 so no work commitments. We actually had made a decision to close our claim. I also don't want to submit my bank statements. I feel like it is an intrusion on privacy. We have been lent money from family, and the stress of having to overexplain just because we have been just paying bills is sending my anxiety into overdrive. We have just sold our house, so we now do not need a claim. My question is, I have cancelled my claim after the bank statements were requested. If I refuse to give them my statements, and I have closed my case, and happy to no longer receive UC. Will this be the end of the matter, or because we have claimed for six months, we will still need to show them? And if so, can we refuse, or will that lead to an arrest warrant? There is too much scaremongering on TikTok, so I wanted to ask somewhere where I hope to get a better response. Thank you

As far as i know this will be the end of the matter. But if you ever claim UC in future, your claim will go for pretty much immediate review.
Once the claim is closed, the review cannot take place.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your reply

Even though you have closed your claim, they will still want to review your previous payments to make sure they were correct.
Unfortunately submitting bank statements is part of the process, it is intrusive I have been through it myself.
TikTok or any other social media platform is not the place to get benefits advice.
Talk to a trained benefits advisor instead.

Also my pip goes into another account will they ask me for this account l did not think uc was connected to pip as its not means tested

You have to provide statements for any and all bank accounts you have, not just the one your UC goes into.
UC is means tested so they need to know about all your money. Any unspent PIP would count as capital after one month (putting it simply).
During the call they will ask a series of scripted questions to identify any undeclared capital, bank accounts, premium bonds, property etc.
Then they may ask questions about individual transactions on your bank statements.
If anything further is required they will ask for it and add it as a To Do on your Journal.

Thank You for the replies we have decided to take the lump sum of 22,000 from my husbands private pension (not drawn on before or receiving) 1which will take us over the threshold for savings.
My hubby is already claiming his state pension and l can get mine next year. We have both worked hard all our lives until poor health struck like many others, we just need the last part of our lives to be stress free is this too much to ask?
We don't want to be on benefits any longer or be a part of all the government changes that are looming, so we are going to close UC on the journal and shall upload his private pension details l believe this would be correct? Hopefully that shall be an the end of it we shall have to wait and see?
It is heartbreaking how people in particular disabled persons are made to feel during the reviews, the intrusive way in which it is conducted, anxiety caused, and even dark thoughts we really feel for everyone out there.
I need to know how to do this in the journal now please any any further advise that may help?
Thank you

How could l ask on scope if anyone else has experience of closeing there UC during review please?

Hi,
There is a specific option in the journal where you can request to close the claim.
Alternatively, you could just take the pension, and then make a change to your savings amount in the journal. As savings will be more than £16000, that will automatically close the claim as well.
