Hello everyone. I’m reaching out to see if any other carers have ever felt unappreciated or taken for granted. I care for three disabled individuals, and lately, it’s been overwhelming—one challenge after another, and it’s really starting to wear me down. I would love to hear from others who have experienced similar situations and learn how you managed to cope.

Hi @Emma3688 Welcome to the Community. I hope you enjoy your time on the forum. Any questions just ask.

Being a carer is the hardest job I have ever done. I cared for a close family member and if I had not loved them I would not have been able to do it.

Being a carer is a 24 hour job and you have no time or life of your own. No one ever asks how you are doing just how is the person you are caring for. Plus when they are feeling frustrated with how their life has turned out no matter what you do it is wrong.

You have to fight for everything you need not just once but time and again. It can be overwhelming.

Having said that it can bring you very close together and you get time together you might not otherwise have had.

Do you have anyone who could give you a break say once a week for an hour or two so you can just have time for yourself? Perhaps go for a walk in the park, meet up with a friend for a coffee or go to the hairdressers.

I only cared for one person and sometimes I was on my knees with it. I was so tired all the time.

    Please take care of yourself.

Hi @Emma3688 and welcome to the community! Really pleased you've joined us.

I'm so sorry to read how you're feeling at the minute. It's an amazing career choice to care for others, and it takes so much so it's completely understandable why you feel this way. @Bluebell21 has given some great insight there. It sounds like you very much need a break, and some time to recharge and look after you. 💛 Have you thought about booking a holiday and a change of scenery?

It really is an amazing job you're doing, caring for 3 people. Please make sure you give yourself some of that effort and care too.
