Hi, my name is craigyboy!

Hi all just trying to get hold of esa been on the phone 90 mins now. Just reading about the lady getting the migration letter to move over. You will wait 6 weeks to get any payment and they will deduct any payment you recieve from esa from the moment you put in your claim even though esa is paid in arrears like all benefits. You will lose 100% council tax deductions the government has said anyone on UC can only get a 75% deduction. And that journal is a absolute joke. You may wait over 2 hours for esa but you could wait over 4 days for a journal reply. The whole systems a joke uc dont know what esa do and vice versa they cant see the same information even though its all DWP…..I finally got through to esa and after speaking to her colleague decided it was a UC matter and transfered me to a UC agent that has emailed my case manager who last time took 4 days to put something in my journal. I give up. If you can stay on ESA for as long as possible that would be my advice dont run over from a sinking ship to another sinking ship.

Hi @craigyboy, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear you've had a rough time with your benefits, it's not always an easy system to navigate.
If you ever feel like you need a bit of help, a local benefits adviser might be able to support you:
