So we both failed the Migration esa to uc bio calls, even though answers were correct. I rung the DWP after bio calls to check the dates I gave were correct & they were. So how can a couple both fail when both answered questions correctly.

For those facing these facical calls make sure if have all your benefit start dates, any benefits that had stopped & names of benefits, boroughs lived in, in various years, the benefits currently recieved & amounts & what benefit you applied for first. These were my questions, I had the answers but comptutor said no! So now waiting on a DWP/UC home visit to confirm ID.

During a call to DWP yesterday to check my ESA start date I had given was correct, ESA said I was on IR ESA & CB ESA. I said no I'm not, none of my paperwork says CB ESA. At this point he started talking about New Style ESA & UC. I have no idea whats going on, I dont know when I'm getting paid, I dont know if my rent will be paid. I literally have no idea of anything.

All I know is, I am ill with worry over this shambles which I have been trying to sort since March, I'm worried sick about my husband diagnosed with stage 4 cancer the exact same week this migration farce began. I am so angry, that my time should be with him instead of these Migration idiots & on top of that I have serious health issues & possibly uterine/ovarian cancer.

I have emailed my MP I have written something on the pointless UC journal, as seemingly me & my husband dont exist. To say enough is enough. I contacted GP yesterday because I felt so ill it felt like I was going to pass out. My BP dropped & my heart rate was high.

All over this migration.

I dread another day starting & just wish I could stay in the dark asleep.

Just had enough...…

Please see this thread for an explanation of New Style ESA:

The ESA letters are very difficult to understand, and many many people don't know what their ESA award was until they migrate, it's one of the most common questions I see here on the forum.

Your New Style ESA will be paid every fortnight on your usually payment cycle at £281.10 a fortnight.

£609.05 will be deducted in full from your UC award, this is the monthly equivalent of a weekly benefit.

TBH I am now at the stage of given up.

All I know is I currently recieve £705.60 every 2 wks from ESA. Inc n that is:

    Money to live on

    SDP joint

    Carers premium joint

A premium because of my partners age

    Support group premium for me

My husbands state pension is deducted for that, which leaves £705.60 every wks.

I dont understand any of it, so I'm asking for my charity support worker if she will attend when the ID PROOF home visit takes place, as I've now become incapable of understanding any of it.

And my other worry is, will I lose my trans protection whilst waiting for ID proof home visit, as my deadline to complete the migration is the 19th July & cant see any home visit before then.

I feel like I've been kicked & kicked & kicked until I've nothing left.

I've given up, literally no more fight in me or unferstanding, my brain fog is so dense now, I dont know what day it is, I'm lying bed & my husband is in bed due to cancer trratment fatigue & also stress about this migration & the worry its giving me, as I'm dealing with both migrations

Well that was a question, which I had written down as I had thought of every scenario possible. Made no difference tho as computor failed us both.

I was told the bio questions are simple no trick questions. I had to answer for my husband & one of his questions was " did you have any benefits in the past stopped" he did which I told the man, but I forgetvto say carers allowance stopped for him when he claimed state penson 2 yrs ago. To me a trick question as it had a 2 part answer.

I have spent over 3 months collating info, from credit card start dates to benefit start dates & failed, even though I answered correctly.

If ur lucky enough to have a passport ( which we do, but still didnt help) & a UK driving license, then use those online. The only other option online is credit refs ie did u get a credit in the last 6 months, 1 yr etc Store card, shown 4/5 addresses & asked which one ur related to & it was none, but no option to click none. Supposed to give u 4 chances of answering, we got one each & kicked us onto u will get a call & given a date & time. I had a support worker do our forms & even she was baffled.

This migration process is not fit for purpose, unless ur young PC friendly & healthy.

Not sure if my MP will help.

But even reading the figures above regarding New Style ESA & UC deduction makes no sense.

As i explained above what I recieve is nothing like that. I can see me using credit cards to live & being in debt to the point of bankruptcy as no way of repaying.

My PIP doesnt cover my monthly bills. So I give up....

The deduction I advised on is correct, this thread contains the calculation:

You have written your current award which is made up of both IR and CB ESA.

As advised in the first linked thread, upon migration the IR ESA is replaced by UC and the CB ESA converts automatically into New Style ESA.

NS ESA is currently £140.55 a week for someone in the Support Group.

After migration the claimant gets New Style ESA as main income which is topped up by UC where eligible.

The New Style ESA is then deducted from UC award, as your husband's pension will be.

Transitional Protection is added if your total UC award (before any deductions) is lower than legacy benefits. This means you aren't worse off at the time of transfer.

TP does erode over time as other elements go up or new elements are added. Effectively your payment is frozen until the rates for everyones else catch up.
