Both me and my husband are on long term sick and receiving pip and universal credit we are doing our health assessments this week to see if we are fit enough to return to work will esa be awarded automatically after assessment or should we claim now, also does pip and ssp affect claim

Hi @sharronn and welcome to the community. Is the health assessment with your GP for the SSP?
PIP doesn't have an effect on ESA. However with SSP, you can't receive ESA whilst on this however you are able to put the request in for ESA up to 3 months prior to your SSP finishing.
