Hello all

It’s been a week since my daughter had a severe mental health crisis, and I’m still trying to process everything.

She has SEN and has been struggling with extreme school-related anxiety for some time. I’ve been raising concerns for months—logging behaviours, attending meetings, sending emails, doing everything expected of a parent advocating for a vulnerable child. Despite this, nothing meaningful was put in place in time.

Last week, things escalated to the point that she had a full-blown meltdown at home—terrified, overwhelmed, and completely dysregulated. It was traumatic for both of us. The crisis team is now involved and have escalated it to urgent care, but this should never have reached that point.

The hardest part is knowing this was preventable. The signs were there. I wasn’t quiet about it. But the response was always delayed, dismissive, or minimal. Now we’re dealing with the aftermath.

Even with the summer holidays starting, this crisis doesn’t just pause. It’s taken a toll on my child’s wellbeing and our family’s stability. I just want others to know: keep pushing. Trust your instincts. Document everything. Because sometimes, even when you do everything right, you’re still left to pick up the pieces alone.
