hi,
Need some advice, son - registered carer for his partner(disabled) on UC- he works 12 hours.
If he cannot go to work( due to partners ill health) the lost income is made up by UC.
He has recently been told his place of work is to close for refurb for 2 weeks-3 options given to staff
1- take holidays over the time period( son doesn’t have any left)
2- work in alternative store- may not be hours he works or as local as his store
3- take unpaid leave
My question is- will UC make up the shortfall in his wages??
Any help please???

Hi @mumsii and a warm welcome to the community!
If your son takes unpaid leave then the Universal Credit won’t automatically top up his lost wages so he should report the closure and update them UC with any income changes😊1
