Universal Credit first payment

I have recieved my first migrated UC payment.
Do they calculate everything monthly now ie rent & my husbands state pension.
Also this Cont Esa I didnt know I had they've deducted £609.05 but I only recieved £281.10 since my last normal ESA payment which was on the 17th July. There was a £281.10 paid on the 31st July. Which I presume is this Cont esa?
Also theres a deduction of ESA £30.33.
The calculation on the statement is from the 3rd July until 2nd Aug. I applied on the 3rd July the day my ESA went in.
Transitional protections been included.
But I cant calculate how they work out the final payment, as I have not recieved £609.05 yet.
Why make things so confusing going from weekly to monthly!
No idea when my next payment is, as I cant find anywhere that says when its due. I have messaged UC under the journal entry " payments".
Also my council tax need a copy of the statement which I have screenshot, but if the amounts are incorrect will this av a knock on affect with council tax, as the statements showing a deduction of something I havent fully recieved? My council changed from 100% reduction to 95% this year.
I'm glad I took the full advance payment, as its going to take me months to get my finances in order with the confusion of this.
Every 2 weeks £281.10 = £562.20 but deducted monthly at £609.05 & then a monthly UC payment but not knowing what day of the month its going.
Its given me one headache.....
Any advice/help appreciated, thank you

Moving to Universal Credit can be very confusing. Universal Credit is calculated calendar monthly so if you receive another benefit payment such as ESA you need to multiply the weekly amount by 52 and divide it by twelve If you are in the Support Group this is worth £140.55 a week ,if you multiply this by 52 and divide it by 12 you get £609.05. They will calculate the deduction for your husband's state pension in the same way. Your ESA will continue to be paid every two weeks. The rent will again be worked out using the weekly amount. You should be able to see your next UC payment on the home page of your UC account a few days before it is due to be paid. Can you confirm the date on which your UC claim started?

I understand they pay monthly & have just worked out the rent & pension, which is now correct the way they've calculated it.
But I still havent recieved £609.05 which is this 2 weekly Cont ESA converted into that monthly figure. I've only recieved one x 2 week Cont ESA £281.10. It should be calculated as part of the full month & deducted & not deducted the whole month, as I havent recieved that. So that has to be an error surely?
I have no idea if the transitional protections correct as its one lump sum, but at least its there which I'm thankful for & with the best will in the world I couldnt calculate that, I can only presume its correct.
One almightly headache....

Sorry my heads all over place! I made the migration date application on the 3rd July, when my normal life ESA went in. Then 2 weeks later on the 17th July I received my last normal ESA. Then out the blue 2 weeks after on 31st July I recieved £281.10. I havent yet recieved a full month ( or 2 x 2 weekk payments of CONT ESA) yet. But had a full month deduction

Two weeks after applying you had one ESA payment, £281.10 of this will have been Conts ESA.
Then another payment of £281.10 New Style ESA.
This all counts as income in terms of assessing your UC payment.
So you have received a months worth of Conts & New Style ESA and a months deduction is correct. It will be that amount each month.
The ESA 30.33 deduction will be for being paid too much IR ESA by mistake, it should say next to that deduction "benefits you were not entitled to".
Your payment date is fixed each month, unless the date falls on a weekend/bank holiday, in which case it will be paid on the preceeding working day.
My payment date is 2nd. As yesterday was a Saturday, I received my payment on Friday 1st.
You can view your payment date by going to the Payment section of the Journal. It is written on the second line of text.
Or you can view your payment statement. The blue box will state which date you were paid. It will be on or just before that date every month.

Ok, so my last 2 week run on payment made on the 17th July for £705.60 - £281.10 as been taken into a/c with UC calculations? So I didnt get a normal full 2 wk run on payment only £428.50?
But on all my previous ESA award letters there isnt anything that shows Cont ESA & not that a weekly amount of £140.55 ( 2 wks £281.10). Just a breakdown as follows:
Living exps for both £142.25
Extra money for partners age £143.00
SDP for both £163.00
Carers premium for both £91.20
And it then says a total income Related amount, no mention of Cont ESA & then my hubbys state pension deduction.
Even the letter I recieved about New Style ESA or Cont based says my IR Esa will end on the 17th July & my IR covers the period from 3rd July till 16th July & the New Style ESA starts on the 17th July.
This as to be the most confusing benefit calculation I've ever seen. I always check & keep all my paperwork & out of the blue Cont ESA appears.
I even checked if the TP sum is correct, just have to take their word for it as I wouldnt know where to start.
The payments says statement due on the 5th Aug but came through today & says I'll be paid on the 9th Aug.
I have messaged UC but I doubt I'll understand reply, as you have already explained it & still dont get the figures to tally. It would have been easy if it had simply gone from ESA to UC one payment. But the DWP seem to love confusing people & this as absolutely blown my head to bits!
Thanks for your reply. Now at some point I've the PIP review to start & my heads fogged....

Statements are often available 1-2 days before the official date, but not always.
In that last payment £281.10 would have been conts based ESA, the rest IR ESA.
The 2 week run on ignored by UC is for your IR ESA only.
Conts based ESA counts as income for UC, whether old style or new style.
As previously advised ESA letters are very difficult to understand even for experienced advisors.
When you originally applied for ESA, there were two types Conts & IR. Depending on what eligibility you met, the DWP would have given you an award of either:
Income Related
Contributions Based
Contributions Based with an IR top up.
As you've found like many after migration, your award was for the latter.
In the Support Group eligibility for CB doesn't expire so your original award is still valid.

Yes thats correct £281.10 was Cont esa/new style esa or whatever they call it & I was expecting that to be deducted, not the full £609.05 monthly calculation.
But if thats the calculation it is what it is. I'm just glad I took the advance, as with the amount being paid next week from UC once my 4 weeks rents paid I wont have enough to cover what comes out of my bank.
Very confusing & will take me a long time to adjust financially. Thanks for your advice x

Going by the dates on your post, 3rd July you applied for UC.
17th July you had a normal payment. Within this payment £281.10 was Conts ESA, the rest IR ESA.
UC ignored the IR ESA, and counted the Conts ESA.
UC also counted the New Style ESA payment on 31st July.
That's where the full month deduction came from.
It is really confusing at first!
I get PIP 4 weekly, UC monthly and New Style ESA fortnightly. It took a while to find a budgeting method that worked for me 🙃

I have really struggled with this migration from the start with all the ID confusion, having to wait for the DWP home visit to prove ID etc plus all the cancer diagnosis for my husband, my MDT for cancer & a PIP review thrown into all of that at the same time. My stress & anxiety levels have peaked to a all time high...on top of all the illnesses I already have. Its been really tough & still struggling....the benefit amounts can be sorted, sadly the cancer cant x
