Hi, For a few years, i have had a ‘grumbling’ knee which needs replacing. Its now quite painful and also difficult to get around, eg:- I used to walk miles and now 100-200 yards is all I can manage after I have taken Paracetamol. I need to use public transport everywhere. My consultant tells me it isn't painful enough yet to operate. I think I have a reasonable high pain threshold, except when it comes to walking on pavements etc when it does become very difficult. I have at night woken up with pain several times. It takes some time to “settle” enough for me to walk around my flat each morning.

I’m not quite sure what sort of comment you require, but I do feel reporting my problem is quite easy.

You need to insist that your consultant sees you again, probably via your GP and ask him what he recommends then. He/she can’t ‘judge’ your pain properly. It’s not reasonable to live with constant pain. Don’t use the word ‘quite’ say ‘very’ painful.

Welcome to the community @JennyCee ☺️

Sorry to hear you're in so much pain. If it's affecting your sleep and your daily activities, it may well be worth speaking to your GP to get some better pain relief. Or asking your consultant again if they'd put you forward for the surgery.

Hope you can get some relief from the pain soon!
