Lcwra - adding new diagnosis

Hey there,
I did my UC claim review and told the lady on the phone about a new diagnosis ive got (fibro & diabetes) i already claim LCWRA. She said I needed to add this as a change which I have done. Im now really anxious they will stop my payments? Any advice please?

Heya @sjg1986 a warm welcome to the community. 😁
Please try not to worry too much, adding a new diagnosis wont mean they'll stop your payments. A change of circumstance doesn't always trigger a new assessment, so you should be ok. 😊

Thank you for accepting me into the community. I hope it doesnt trigger one because im having my claim reviewed as well. The diagnosis I already have for LCWRA is for mental health and migraines, but my mobility is now affected by the fibro. I claim Pip for the same conditions but im also worried if I do a change of circumstances with that they may stop it 😔

Hi,
You don't need to report a worsening condition to UC as you already have LCWRA. Unfortunately it sounds like the person doing the review was just reading from the script that 'all changes must be reported' which isn't true in reality.
If you already get Enhanced Rates of PIP then there is no need to report a worsening condition to them either. If you are currently on Standard Rate for either part, and believe you would now qualify for Enhanced Rate, then you can choose to make a Change of Circumstances for that, however that will trigger another assessment so only you can decide whether that's worth doing.

Sadly, I can't say one way or the other for LCWRA. It's not quite as simple as PIP for this situation.
It should be fairly obvious to the UC staff that it's a worsening condition and you already have the maximum possible health award for UC, so there would be no point in doing another assessment. But some of these things get triggered automatically by the electronic system. All you can do now is wait and see whether they send you another UC50 form or send you an appointment time through the journal.

It is very unlikely that they will review your LCWRA if you have already receive this and your health has not improved. Currently new claims are being given priority as there is a lack of capacity in the system.

Thank you. I get LCWRA for mental health difficulties atm. So the new condition I added is fibro which I got diagnosed with back in january and this has been confirmed for the third time last week by a chronicpain doctor, so I will need to see a pain clinic and physio etc so it is now affecting my mobility. So im just really anxious as I cant afford to be off the LCWRA as I cant work full time. Sorry to go on. And thank you again.
