I’m deeply upset about this as Albus was trying to help me and I still have his emails he sent to me. He was a good man and very thoughtful towards others. This world is so cruel . May his soul rest in peace

Can someone in SCOPE Mo perhaps please Google the town where Albus lived, and Voluntary Action before that, and nominate Albus, post-humously, for
an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Community Work, then get the certificate and post it on this forum please.
It is good to recognise peoples deep compassion, sensitivity, commitment, people and nurturing skills etc. Albus was such a person, and so am I, and got that award in Leeds.
It might help comfort his family, friends, everyone who knew and was touched and admired by him.
Then give the certificate to his family, maybe in a formal face to face or online ceremony of remembrance and tribute to his life.

Thanks @MadMilan2019. This is a lovely thought. I'll take it away and discuss with the rest of the team.

Thank you Holly indeed,
I have just triedto nmuinate my friend and former work colleague Terry Simpson,
who did so much over 40 years to
help disabled and distressed service users, survivors and thrivers
to believe in themselves, individually, and politically, for individual and collective advocacy, with the NHS, etc. to get us equality, recognition, self-esteem, and justice,
but
nominations for the award in outstanding achievement in community work for 2025 are now closed.
I will nominate him in 2026, on the Voluntary Action, Leeds website.
SCOPE may not be able to award Albus such an award, but if so please do it next year 2026, and tell us SCOPE intends to do that please.
Albus so obviously deserves that award, given the sheer number of compliments, and heartfelt ones at that.
The only thing that matter in this life is creating more compassion for all, even 'enemies'
- and you do not have to be a practicing Buddhist like me t do that?!

Love and gratitude to all.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I recently joined the group, looking for information. Albus was one of the first to reply and offer help.
Thank you Albus for taking the time to help others, when you were going through a difficult time yourself.
I hope you're in a better place now, free from pain and struggles.
Rest in peace.
Godbless ❤️

A lesson we can all learn from kind, compassionate, supportive people like Albus, and there are many of them is:
the slogan / matra if you will, of the Recovery College:
You are worthy of the compassion you give out to others.
The Recovery College was set up by people with mental health problems/ need/ distressed, people/ service users of mental health service/ survivors/ thrivers to create courses for recovery.
Please have a look Google ''Recovery College'' - I wish I'd told Albus about this as he was very distressed at times.
Are our tributes getting to Albus's family and friends?
A poem for Albus
A kind, compassionate man.
A disabled fellow traveller.
Who knew the meaning of helpfulness indeed.
He always went the extra mile for disabled people, and those who suffered anxiety, depression, trauma and all those with distress.
Simply because he knew what it meant to be discriminated against.
Albus was pure in his determination, his name means 'white', or what does it mean.
In a sense, I never knew him, I didn't meet him face to face, never saw him online or his photograph.
However I knew this:
his willingness to go the extra mile for disabled people.
His total commitment to the rights of disabled people, a belief in his, our, and all our capabilities.
His belief in a more just society, and antidiscrimination values, and actions.
He was a service user, a survivor, of bad experiences, which he told us about,
and no doubt many more…
He was a modern man, open to feelings, sharing and caring.
And caring he did extremely well.
He had hope among his physical and mental pains, a nonmacho determination.
He was compassionate, intelligent, and kind.
He made all of our lives better
He was kind kind kind .
He knew there is no such thing as a small act of kindness,
in what can be a cruel world, in fact it can be vicious.
Albus was a KING of Kindness, a King of the only wisdom that really matters:
A King of Compassion.
Milan Ghosh.
This poem is not copyrighted; it is for his friends, acquaintances and family, and work colleagues.
All I ask is that SCOPE pass it on to these latter, and confirm it.
