Higher payment in December

Hi everyone, can you please help. I have received a payment of UC today as usual on the correct date in the month but the amount differs this month of December, it's actually more than usual. I have had the same amount consonantly but this is more for December. Can someone explain to my why? Is it to do with with how the ESA payment work out over the year so deductions are less? This is the first December on UC I do not want to spend it if it's a mistake & be left without if it's then deducted in a coming payment. Thank you.

The ESA deduction is done as an average every month always deducting an equivalent of 30 days, currently £609.05 only changing in April/May.

Do you have access to an online UC account (Journal) to look at your latest statement and the one for October/November, to compare and spot the difference?

Have you had any changes of circumstances recently? A rent increase, a Work Capability Assessment etc?

Were you paying off an Advance Payment or Budgeting Payment, which might have now been repaid in full?

I checked & the deduction is around what it normally is & no changes at all, thanks

Ah, this can happen occasionally, usually around April when the rates go up & their system gets it wrong!

    I've had it happen myself.

You need to add a Journal note (using the payment option) stating the ESA deduction was incorrect and you've been overpaid Universal Credit as a result.

Once it's been sorted, a letter will be added to your Journal stating the amount owed due to overpayment.

Repayment options will be on the letter, I simply sent the whole amount owed to the bank account stated.

I got paid just over £200 too much last week!! I have just paid it back in full over the phone. I have no idea what happened but it was sorted in 5 minutes.

Thank you both, I'll have to get in touch with them to fix this, I just wish they wouldn't make these errors, I'm already paying for a previous one of their errors & making repayments.
