Exactly what funding & financial support is available for genuine families

I want to know what funding and financial help is there for low income families struggling to provide for their children at Christmas? There's nothing like the feeling at Christmas of being so low, depressed, guilty and a massive let down to your children because you cant afford or buy them any presents at all or the fact you also cant even afford to go buy any food to provide for the family?! From experience i truly know this feeling as I am in this position like many other parents… I have intensively searched the gov site and each type of support I find is out of date? Pathetic I say!.. So where is there any help and support where a professional referral is not needed?! Parent in this position needs action in the form of funding grants sustainable to survive over Christmas and food vouchers with real value so a family can actually purchase a reasonable food shop worth £150 not a miserable £20 to feed a family of 6 for God sake... So please help my family survive this Christmas with funding and food support and not just advice! For the wellbeing of children this should be in place already through nominations within all schools and applied in place before they break for Christmas. Sorry if this first attempt at a post reads offensive to some people but im pretty sure majority will agree and need much desperate help ASAP like me and my family this next few weeks.

Have you tried asking what local churches have organised? One where i live, they are giving out food parcels and toys.

The Salvation Army help families like yours at Christmas and provide some presents for children. A Lot of people give to the Salvation Army at Christmas including me.

There are food banks too. My Morrison's make up food parcels and customers select one and pay for it...

I agree with @Trevor_PIP recommending the Salvation Army - they're not bothered if you have a belief, or not, they are there to help; a truly great organisation. Hope it's less 'advice' but hope given above.
