Hi . I had a letter today to say my council tax is being suspended along with my housing benefit.
I have no idea why . They did not explain. I have to send in photocopies of letters etc .they did not tell me what either

Has anyone else has this happen or know anything about it.

Claims can be suspended if they're doing a review and you've not responded with the information they need.

You will need to contact them and ask why it was suspended, and what information they require.

My housing benefit and council tax support was once cancelled as they thought I had moved house (I hadn’t). There was someone with the same name as me, living on the same street but a different number, and they’d got us mixed up! They realised what had happened after I phoned up very distressed and put it right. It took a couple of weeks to reinstate it all but I contacted my landlord and explained what had happened and they were really understanding. Could you phone them in the morning? It would be a good idea to let your landlord know what has happened too

Thanks , yes I’ve already spoken to various people and emailed them . Still not sure why I’ve been suspended.
I hope to find out tomorrow.

    I don’t know.

it said your landlord is on the social housing register. So will be contacted direct to verify your housing costs.

so if anyone has anything similar to this?

It sounds like you have applied for Universal Credit?

When living in social housing UC will contact landlord to verify the rent amount.

Unless you live in supported or sheltered housing, Housing Benefit ends once you apply for UC.

You will in future be paid for rent via Housing Element (UC).

This can be paid directly to your Landlord if you'd prefer, but this needs to be requested it doesn't happen automatically.

Council Tax Reduction is decided on at a local level and each local authority has different rules for this meaning it's very hard to advise on individual cases from here.

It may well be that your local authority suspends CTR awards until the first Universal Credit statement is generated, then they reassess.

So you are aware because different areas have different rules for CTR, some local authorities treat UC differently to legacy benefits and some people have seen an increase in the amount of CT they have to pay.
