Hello, I was a nurse on General medicine wards. I worked mostly with elderly patients and also on lung and respiratory wards. Unfortunately my husband passed away from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and aggressive lung cancer ππ’π it was really hard to nurse him as a patient as he kept asking questions about the illness π’ he wanted me to explain what was going to happen to him. I am also waiting for the pain management team as I am in chronic pain all day and even at night. You are so right about the loneliness, it is an awful experience. Thank you
so much

Hi @Jadziah12
I know the feeling about being asked questions. We nursed my granny at the end of her life and she'd often ask things. When she asked "do you think I'll be able to get out of bed soon?" I couldn't bring myself to lie, but didn't have the heart to tell the truth. I found I started giving non-committal answers. When she was near the end and asked if she'd feel better, I answered that "the pain will get better". That still kind of haunts me because it seemed to give her peace of mind, but I knew exactly what I meant
What kind of years were you a nurse? My mum was a nurse, in the 80sβ¦ she was a midwife, though! π
