A surprising fact about me is...

I had a pet tern called Terry! My mum worked for the RSPCA and we had a myriad of animals come and stay with us. It was a very fun time and felt like I was living in a zoo sometimes. However, it did trigger my fear of birds as we housed a parrot for a few days and it absolutely hated me 😰

Tell us yours!

What!? That's crazy! I am truly surprised. How did that come about?

Yeah I did and it was really heartbreaking but we gave them a comfortable life towards their end.

@Mary_Scope would ordaining a wedding be something you would like to do?

A surprising fact about me is I am a nature lover, nothing makes me happier…but I only lasted 6 minutes in a Brazilian rainforest. Apparently there is such a thing as too much nature 😂

That's amazing that you went to a rainforest! What led up to it? What was it that made you want to leave so quickly? I think for me it'd be the creepy crawlies!

Yes definitely @Fairyopi!!! I've told my friends that I'm ready whenever the time comes🤣🤣

I was in a Youtube black hole yeaaars ago and watched a video of somebody becoming one so I thought I would do the same because why not🤣🤣

Wow @Fairyopi, thatt sounds incredible! What was that like? Do you have any photos of the rainforest you would feel comfortable sharing?

@Mary_Scope oooh here’s hoping the time comes soon. I love soppy love 😂❤️ I’m not sure I would be able to officiate a wedding, I’d cry all the way through!

it was overwhelming to say the least. It was scorching hot outside but in the rainforest it was drastically cooler, the sounds of the cicadas were so loud it was hard to hear my partner nearby, I attempted to hold a tree branch for stability but it was a big snake and when I seen the giant spider I just lost it 😂 I don’t know why I didn’t expect to see these creatures but I just wasn’t prepared.
I have pics in the cloud, I’ll look them out and get back to you. They’re not great, I was too scared to focus the camera.😂

Love that @Mary_Scope 😂 The best decisions are made after going down a YouTube black hole.

Wow that sounds like such once in a lifetime experience @Fairyopi! I don't like snakes at all so that would have been my worst nightmare!! Fair play to you for going in there though and giving it a go! Where is the best place in nature you have been?

I certainly was lucky to experience it, but I wouldn’t want to do it again. 😂

Portugal is my favourite place to go, up the mountains. I can handle the bug level there 👌😂

From as far back as i can remember animals have been my greatest passion in life. As a young man i remember scouring the Highland's of Scotland searching for the elusive Scottish Wildcat (felis sylvestris) to sketch and if it wasn't for mountain rescue (twice) i would've certainly died from exposure on more than one occasion. Nowadays i can't even hold a pencil or piece of charcoal for more than a few seconds due to crippling Rheumatoid arthritis. My surprising fact is that as a lifelong animal lover i remain terrified of spiders. In fact its far worse than just being terrified - i cannot even look at a picture of a spider without going into a panic attack.

Oh wow @MrHappy that's a very genuine fear. I've seen a Scottish Wildcat in the Highland wildlife park. Not quite as adventurous as you! I bet it felt so peaceful sketching them in their natural habitat. I'm sorry you can't draw now due to your arthritis. I have the same thing but luckily I'm mostly ok for now.

One surprising fact about me is that I have 2 children, a boy and a girl, both born on the same day 11 years apart.

Most surprising fact about me is that I can speed read and take in about 90 percent of a text. I read at roughly 700 words per minute. If I go my fastest at around 900 comprehension drops to about 75

I'm sure there's probably something more interesting/surprising about me, but off the top of my head, I own a toy from the 70's that contains mercury which would never be allowed today.

Wow what a coincidence @Topher! Were they ever annoyed to share the same birthday?

That must be so useful @quincepurple75! Did you have to teach yourself to do it or was it something you always did?

Ooh that's cool @Ross1975, nothing like a bit of danger from the 70s! I watched a TV program that went through some popular toys of the time and there were all sorts of chemical science kits too. Excellent fun I'm sure, but I'd imagine there were quite a few injuries and accidents!

On the theme of odd pets, I used to have some Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches and a Giant African Land Snail 😁

A surprising fact about me is that I spent years volunteering in a women’s refuge. It shaped a lot of who I am today.
