Why does everything take forever
Hi. I was injured in 2012, went from triathlete to becoming an ambulatory wheelchair user, with a side helping of CPTSD. No one likes reading medical history: broken neck, permanently broken ankle. It's been a rollercoaster time for me, mostly downs, and I am embracing getting on with it. I have come to terms that I can't swim, run, or ride a bike ever again. Swim, I go in circles. Run, I fall over. Lost my sense of balance, and the police described my cycling as a danger to shipping.
One thing that does make me very angry is that anything to do with disability provision, housing, and vehicles takes forever. I had to wait a year for my wheelchair, and after being made homeless in 2015, I have been offered a bungalow, and I have a WAV on the way.
House: been waiting 19 months. Adaptations are nearly done (never move in on a promise), though my patience is wearing thin. My WAV is nearing 14 months. So basically two years of my life on hold due to delays.
Is there a polite way of calling these companies and saying hurry the hell up? Is there a disability ombudsman that can take this into account for me? The stress and strain is infuriating and I want to get on with my life, not helped by the anti-disability rhetoric coming from the people who work at the building on a HP Sauce bottle.
I am unsure what to do, where to turn. My service charity has been amazing, but the WAV company and housing company are really taking the pee.

I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing with getting support, it sounds incredibly frustrating. As you have already been waiting so long, I think it is okay that you contact the companies directly to express your concerns politely and clearly and explain the impact on your life. If this doesn't help, escalate the issue by speaking to a manager or someone higher up.
There isn't a specific disability ombudsman, you can contact the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman for housing issues and the The Motor Ombudsman for vehicle related concerns. It is also really helpful to document all communications and promises made by the companies as this can be useful if you need to escalate further0
