Hi, my name is claire1500!
Hi I'm Claire I am looking for advice please. I have been a carer for my Mum since I was a young child. I did live in the same county as my mum and I received a carers personal budget for caring.
I have moved out of the county my mother lives in, but I am still providing care to her, I do all her shopping online, I manage her finances and bills, order things online that she needs, I fill out forms for her. I book appointments and transport to medical appointments for her. I remind her to take her medications.
I provide emotional care by telephone up to 4 hours a day and I provide care through video chats.
I moved due to not getting support in the county that myself and my mum lived in for my children's education so I had no choice for my children's well being.
I am still providing care to my mother but remotely and I'm actually spending more time giving emotional support now than before. I am doing the same amount as before with managing finances, shopping etc.
My question is would I still be entitled to a carers personal budget even though I'm remotely caring for her, I was receiving the carers personal budget from the same council my mother lived in, if I was entitled do I apply still to the same council as my mother lives in.
I will also be going to stay with my mother 4 times a year for a week a time so she can see me properly. My mother has annual check ups also because she has brain tumors and I will be traveling up to her and attending the appointments with her.
Any advice would be much appreciated😊
