As well as March being Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, the 18th March also marks Swallowing Awareness Day. Eating, drinking, and swallowing are things many of us take for granted, but for some people with cerebral palsy, these everyday activities can be challenging. Difficulties in this area, known as dysphagia, can impact quality of life, affect confidence and lead to further health complications. This is why the work of Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) is so important.

Award-winning disabled playwright and screenwriter Ciaran Fitzgerald has been attending private therapy sessions at Cerebral Palsy Cymru, working with Helen, our Speech and Language Therapist, to support his eating, drinking and swallowing.

He has shared his story about attending private therapy sessions. Click the link below to read more.https://www.cerebralpalsycymru.org/.../swallowing...

Private Therapy Offer: Thanks to our partnership with @slatergordonuk , we’re currently offering a special discounted rate on new private therapy bookings. Offer ends 20 April.

Funnily enough, my sister & I were talking about dysphagia last evening, as we went out to celebrate her birthday, with theatre & a meal. I had a couple of choking fits, as I have dysphagia, it isn't very pleasant & can be very embarrassing as well as frightening sometimes. I didn't know there was a day for it. I also have dysphonia, so if I'm not choking, I have a wonky voice. 🤪

This is really interesting @Richard_Scope and has highlighted something I hadn't thought about before.
