It's Purple Day-26 April 2026
Today is Purple Day! A worldwide day to acknowledge and celebrate those living with Epilepsy.
It was founded in 2008 by a young Canadian Cassidy Megan, it encourages people to wear purple and host events to raise funds and awareness. Lavender is the international flower of epilepsy, symbolizing isolation often experienced by people with the condition.

As we celebrate Cerebral Palsy Awareness month, it's valuable that Purple Day is acknowledged on 26 March.
It's important to remember that Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy can be co-existing conditions for many people.
Lets come together for both communities and amplify awareness during this month. 💚💚💜💜

Thanks for raising this @SaraC_Scope. According to Wiley Online, epilepsy is one of the more common associated conditions in cerebral palsy, not a rare add-on. It is also much more common than in the general child population, with one linkage study reporting 34–43% in children with cerebral palsy versus 0.75–1.4% in the general paediatric population.
And as we know, children with CP and Epilepsy grow up to be adults with CP and Epilepsy!

Thanks for this post @SaraC_Scope! So important to raise awareness of what people with Epilepsy go through day to day. It's such a complex condition and as you both say, it can run alongside CP and many other conditions too.
Hope today goes towards raising some much needed funds and awareness 💜
