I used to live virtually across the road from Blundell Park back in my Student years.

My grandparents lived around the back of Blundell Park, and the Mariners Players themselves often used to train on the playing fields of my secondary school. I used to go to all their home matches as a teenager. Mind you, it was only about £2.00 admission fee then! Happy days!

we should all write to fifa and get england reinstated in to the final, a very tongue in cheek comment

That isn't the most fanciful suggestion I have heard today, and unlike yourself, they weren't kidding! 🙄
2 -
just out of interest what suggestions have you heard

There were some deluded souls wanting England awarded the win over that silly banner. They have obviously not heard of losing gracefully, a skill we Scots have become masters at!

Err I think you need to re word your post. It wasn't a silly banner it was a show of disrespect to people who fought and lost in the battle. Ask Simon western what he thought of that banner. Just in case you forgotten he was disfigured in the conflict.
1 -
I know perfectly well who Simon 'Weston' is, in fact I am sat here not 2 miles from a 45 Commando memorial garden.
You can substitute 'silly' for ill advised, childish, immature, if you like.

The banner was a political statement. I think the players involved should be banned from taking part in the Sunday final.
Lets hope Spain win on Sunday in the final.
2 -
I Hope that Spain win on Sunday too. And not just because they are my Sweepstake team.
😁

I have some cousins that live in Spain. They moved there with the forces and stayed there ever since.

FIFA ‘told Trump the US will host the 2031 Women’s World Cup’
Oh dear more delayed kick off's and possible late nights lol. Good job it's in 5 years time. Not sure where next years is being held. The Lionesses have to qualify in October and November seeing as they blew the Group games at the last hurdle. It's actually more interesting watching the Lionesses play than it is the Lions lol. They get stuck in and throw everything they have at the game.

Next years Women's Football World Cup is being held in Brazil. So still a big time difference, but hopefully not so much FIFA interference!
I agree about the Lionesses being a much better watch than the Three Lions, they don't hang back but keep pushing forward whatever. I also can't imagine Serena Wiegman substituting in more defenders when they have 40 minutes to go and are 1-0 up in a must-win game. Just wouldn't happen! 😕

So... is anyone going to stay up to watch the England v France match tonight? I can't face it, although I will record it just in case something happens that is reportedly worth watching tomorrow morning.
Sigh. At least there is Diamond League Athletics from London this afternoon ( on BBC1).
😎

not going to watch the match, i have other things to watch, but knowing england they will have there best match ever. i'm going to watch the athletics though
1 -
Yeah I am. Kick off is 8pm so if it's settled in 90 mins then it'll be done by 10pm. If extra time and Penalty shoot out then nearer 11pm.

I have to agree with you there. Selina is a good manager and she doesn't hang about like Tucel. She probably knows the game and her players better than he knows his.

@Scooby222 there's always England v Argentina in the Rugby Union this evening lol. I used to live round the corner from the old Huddersfield Giants ground and occasionally had a grand stand view from the field in the play park. Not followed them of late though I'm more Footy oriented.

I am going to watch the England v France game. I want to see if England can play the game of their life and restore some pride in their football.
Unfortunately not holding my breath.

I could've ended up living virtually next door to the Sheffield Wednesday ground, I decided against it, the House itself was too cold, my room would've been on the top floor, and I didn't really like the guy I would've been living with.
Coming back Home at weekends would've been a nightmare on Match days, I already go out of my way to avoid being on a Hillsborough bound Tram after about 13.30 when I know Wednesday are at Home.
