SUDEP Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. Help available from SUDEP Action
I know this sounds scary, but it's real and SUDEP Action continue to raise awareness of how to reduce the amount of deaths caused by epilepsy.
Today I discovered Charlie's Card, created by SUDEP Action, which you can apply for free of charge. Click on the link below.
If you run out of epilepsy medication or there is a delay in getting a new prescription, this card will allow your pharmacist to give you an emergency supply. I've been in this position and knowing there is a card that can help me explain the importance of not missing a medicationdose, is reassuring.
The Charlie Card is a self-advocacy tool if you find yourself without your regular anti-seizure medications. You can request a minimum emergency supply from any chemist, to tide you over until you receive your regular prescription. The Charlie Card highlights the legal framework allowing emergency supply under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012.
