I'm a disabled student currently studying Law at the University of York. I have a very rare metabolic condition meaning I literally have exercise intolerance which isn't nearly as inviting as it sounds.
As a result, I use a wheelchair most of the time to get around and occasionally require carers to lend me a hand with some bits and bobs to help preserve energy for doing things I'd prefer to be doing.
I am extremely passionate about encouraging disabled people to consider higher education and all the opportunities it can bring. I have spent my entire life defying labels and changing perceptions of others. I always try encourage disabled people to think differently about their prospects, and also encourage others to think about how they think about those with disabilities.
Now, the reason I have joined this forum is to offer advice to anyone who wants it. I'm happy to discuss anything from employing carers for personal care to battling through the education system.
