Hi beth and welcome
Who told you you cannot claim anything ?
PIP is the benefit for people that have difficulty with some every day activities and mobility
Have a look at the B&W self test

Hello Beth @beth74 and a warm welcome to the community. Very glad to have you with us.
I'm not a benefits expert, but we have plenty here who are and they will be in touch with you as soon as possible. Please bear with us
In the meantime you might like to try our online benefits calculator, here https://www.scope.org.uk/support/disabled-people/benefits/check?_ga=2.231776154.405444417.1517054923-1832321402.1513208436
